JesterTek Put Users In the Picture at SIGGRAPH with Gesture Control

Large Screen 3D Presentations Controlled by Pointing or Body Movement By DMN Staff Writer
JesterTek Inc. (www.jestertek.com), the world leader in video gesture control technology, today announced that it will demonstrate its JestPoint(TM) gesture control and JestXtreme(TM) immersive interactive game products at Siggraph 2001 in Los Angeles, August 14-16, 2001. JesterTek technologies allow users to control a computer display of any size, from kiosk to video wall, from any distance using intuitive gestures to command and manipulate 3D content, adding "new dimensions" to tools for the graphics development community.

Due to the huge popularity of large display screens and lightweight video projectors, increased computer power and the proliferation of digital content, the same gesture control technology JesterTek has placed in high-end installations for Disney and the Smithsonian is now practical for 3D design, gaming and business applications. "As computer graphics applications displayed on large screens continue to proliferate in public and corporate venues, it only makes sense to let the user step back and control them from a distance." states Vincent John Vincent, president of Jestertek. "Jestertek provides the most natural interface by letting you simply reach out and point at the screen."

JestPoint Controls Displays by Pointing

JestPoint is a powerful, intuitive replacement for the computer mouse in many applications. It is capable of X, Y and Z (depth) axis control, which means that users can grab a 3D display object and rotate it or fly through space with a wave of their hands. JestPoint provides an ideal interface for broadband multi-user games, tradeshow presentations and unattended displays behind glass in retail store windows that can be controlled by users from the street using simple hand gestures. "This is a device free, intuitive interface to interactive graphical applications that is very commercially viable," says Vincent. "We are getting amazing feedback from the industry."

JestXtreme Provides Full-Body Control of Displays

JestXtreme takes gesture control technology to its extreme allowing video gamers to take their entire bodies into a game. They can interact with the environment and other characters as video images of themselves or avatars, providing a truly immersive experience. JestXtreme has proven itself to be a big crowd-attractor in hundreds of installations with people lining up to play. JesterTek can work with clients to create custom games or provide an SDK to allow 3rd parties to develop their own.
