Jerry Gepner to Join Vitec Broadcast Group as CTO

The Vitec Group plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerry Gepner to the position of CTO, Vitec Group Broadcast.

Gepner will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of corporate development initiatives, from working with group companies such as Bexel to developing solutions that allow broadcasters to embrace the latest technologies without taking the risks normally associated with early stage hardware; to helping guide Vitecs internal product development on complex systems such as intercoms and robotic camera supports; to assisting in the overall growth and business development agenda.

Prior to joining Vitec, Gepner served as president of National Mobile Television (NMT), one of the largest and most well respected mobile production and engineering companies in the United States. During his tenure with NMT, Gepner was instrumental in the development of HD mobile units for both national and regional marketplaces, as well as the creation of many new approaches to live television production. In this role, he helped launch Venue Services Group, an NMT owned systems design and integration company. Before NMT, he served as an Executive Vice President for Fox Sports and was co-founder and COO of Sportvision, the technology company that created the ?virtual first down line and other well-known computer enhancements for live sports telecasts.

Gepner has been the recipient of five Emmy Awards, the 1998 Digiglobe Award from Deutsche Telekom, the 2003 Broadcasting All-Star Award and eight patents in the fields of television production and virtual imaging. He is best known as an innovator and expert in live television production and related fields. As part of the transition, Gepner will continue to serve as a consultant to NMT on key projects. He will join The Vitec Group in mid-July and will be based in the New York area.

?Contributing to an organization with the reach and reputation of Vitec is a great honor, said Gepner, ?I look forward to working closely with the companys talented team as we strive for continued growth in every area. Vitec has the resources to provide truly innovative solutions to the entire media industry.

According to Gareth Rhys Williams, CEO of The Vitec Group, ?Having Jerry join the Vitec team brings a new dimension to the type of solutions and services we can offer our customers. His experience and ability complement a management group dedicated to the highest quality products and technology in the broadcast industry.
