Javaground's Xpress Suite(TM) Adds Automatic Java to iPhone ConversionJavaground's Xpress Suite(TM) Is a Comprehensive Development and Porting Solution; It Enables Easier and Faster Development and Porting With Enhanced Quality; the Xpress Suite Is Now Capable of Automatically Generating Native iPhone Code From Java Sou (January 15, 2009)
IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/15/09 -- Javaground announced today a new component of its Xpress Suite(TM) that allows developers to automatically generate a native iPhone program from a Java source code. This will save developers a significant amount of time. Traditionally, developers target the iPhone by re-writing their Java source code in Objective C. Now, their existing Java code can be reused and automatically converted to create high-performance iPhone games and applications.
Using the Javaground Xpress Suite(TM), a developer can quickly create a high quality mobile application with a single unique Java source code that works on over 2000 devices, including all devices supporting J2ME(TM), Brew, Android and now iPhone.
"The mobile market is shifting from mainly Java and Brew porting to cross-platform porting as evidenced by the rise of the iPhone, Android and Windows Mobile platforms. Javaground is committed to continually improving its Xpress Suite to stay ahead of the competition and offer increasing value to its customers as demonstrated by our new fully-automated cross-platform converter," said Alex Kral, CEO and co-founder of Javaground.
Javaground broke industry standards in 2006 when it introduced the world's first commercially available cross-platform J2ME(TM) to Brew converter. Since then, the company has added other cross-platform converters to translate J2ME(TM) programs to the Android and iPhone platforms, thereby allowing developers to continue using Java and still target most of the main platforms.
About the Xpress Suite(TM)
The Xpress Suite is the most widely used development and porting environment in the mobile gaming industry. Tens of thousands of SKUs have been created with Xpress and published on operators' decks. The key components of the Xpress Suite(TM) include the following:
Universal Emulator(TM): It streamlines the development and debugging of games. It emulates more than 2000 devices (previously profiled), making it possible to test and debug the game in your favorite IDE environment without having to run it on the actual device. It saves developers a huge amount of time and contains many useful debugging and performance analysis features.
Porting Engine(TM): It automatically generates builds for J2ME(TM), Brew, Android and iPhone OS devices from a single source code. Builds generated by this application are customized for the unique constraints and bugs found on each device. The simple yet powerful rule system allows automatic customization of the features and resources included for each device.
Database: The Javaground Database is central to all the other components of the Xpress Suite. It characterizes all the attributes of thousands of mobile devices. Mobile games are often created for devices with widely varying technical capabilities, and the database assists developers in deciding which game features should be enabled on each device.
Resource Manager: It is used to create, optimize and manage assets. It is used to configure game graphics, animation sequences, palettes, fonts, and multi-lingual translations. The Resource Manager offers sophisticated 2D animation capabilities, as well as graphical optimization tools used for the creation of compact content files.
Level Editor: Game environments constructed in the Xpress Suite(TM) Level Editor may consist of background tiles, static scenery objects, and powerful developer defined objects. The level editor enables advanced features like parallax scrolling and is well suited for the creation of high-end side-scrolling platformers, overhead RPGs, isometric games and more. The Level Editor enables game designers to finally include massive and feature rich levels on mobile devices.
Avancys(TM): It is Javaground's provisioning server, used extensively for QA operations and direct-to-consumer distribution. It also makes versioning, loading and testing builds on devices effortless.
