J. Crew and Minted Team Up to Raise Money for Teach For America(November 18, 2011)
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/18/11 -- J. Crew Group, Inc. (http://www.jcrew.com/) a nationally recognized multi-channel retailer of women's, men's and children's apparel, and Minted (www.minted.com), the online design community and Internet commerce platform, have partnered to support Teach For America this holiday season.
J. Crew President and Executive Creative Director Jenna Lyons judged the 2011 Minted 'Sending Good Cheer' Holiday Card Challenge. Her pick, holiday card "Etched" by Minted community designer Jack Knoebber, will be featured in the J. Crew November catalog and is available for sale exclusively at Minted. Minted will donate 15% of all gross profit from the card to Teach For America, the organization working to eliminate educational inequity across the US.
Jenna says, "This design is cool and modern. I love the simplicity -- it's exactly what I want from a holiday photo card."
Jenna chose Jack's 'Etched' design from the 2,554 holiday cards submitted by independent designers throughout the world to Minted's fourth annual holiday card design competition. The rest of the 250 designs in Minted's final assortment received more than half a million votes from Minted's community to identify the best designs for Minted to sell. Etched, along with all Minted's holiday cards, is personalizable with a customer's photo, printed on the thickest paper available for photo cards, and is available for $100 for 50 cards.
Minted believes in enabling the growth, creativity, and careers of independent designers. Minted honors them this holiday season by donating 15% of gross profit from the sales of 'Etched' to Teach For America. Teach For America's mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation's most promising future leaders in the effort. Teach For America's network in the 2011-2012 school year will include more than 9,000 members teaching in 43 regions across the country. "Teach For America is honored to be the first charitable beneficiary of Minted. Funds raised will help our continued efforts to get highly effective teachers in low-income schools nationwide. It will also support the leadership development of more than 9,000 teachers," said Kyle Ridaught, VP of Teach For America Corporate Relations. "We are incredibly thankful to Minted.com and the patrons who help advance our mission through a holiday purchase."
"It was an honor to work with Jenna Lyons and J. Crew on this initiative," says Mariam Naficy, CEO and founder of Minted. "J. Crew and Minted have similar missions; just as J. Crew has brought unique and independent style to millions of women, Minted is discovering and offering unique and individualistic design by sourcing from a talented global community. We're very grateful to Jenna and J. Crew for bringing Jack's brilliant design to J. Crew customers this holiday season, as well as helping us donate to Teach For America, an important and worthy cause that helps our country build its future."
