Is That A Robot At The Wheel? Could Be.
Take a good look at this car. Remember it. Memorize it! Why? Because this is Junior, the robotic car designed by Sebastian Thrun, the Stanford University Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He headed the robotic vehicle design team that was the winner of the 2005 DARPA robotic navigation race through southern California and Nevada.
Next week he will be sending Junior off to compete in DARPA 2007. Only this time it isn't deserts, its in traffic. Real traffic, surrounded by cars driven by real people. So make sure you recognize this car when you see it.
