Investigator is grilled in Rutgers webcam case

Investigator grilled in Rutgers webcam spying trial with questions about student interviews By The Associated Press

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) ' An investigator who worked on the case of a former Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate is being grilled by a defense lawyer.

Steven Altman has spent about two hours Friday asking Frank DiNinno about details of his interviews with students who knew Dharun Ravi (dah-ROON' RAH'-vee).

Ravi is charged with invasion of privacy, bias intimidation and other crimes. Authorities say he used his webcam to spy on roommate Tyler Clementi's intimate encounter with another man in September 2010, days before Clementi committed suicide.

Altman has asked DiNinno whether he wanted to find out whether Ravi was biased against gays.

DiNinno says he was gathering all the information he could about the case.
