Introducing the Smart Console at TonmeistertagungSmart AV presents groundbreaking console control surface (November 05, 2004)
Smart AV Smart Console
The Smart Console was launched at the IBC2004 Conference (Sept. 10-14 in Amsterdam, Netherlands) and subsequently at the AES Convention (Oct. 28-31 in San Francisco, U.S.) to overwhelmingly positive reactions. Smart AV is presently engaged in negotiations with a variety of potential distributors to supply the new products to European, Asian, and American markets.
The Smart Console is the first audio control surface incorporating patented ARC technology, which uses a physical arc located above the controls and within arm's reach of the sound engineer to represent all the channels on a traditional long console. With a simple touch of the arc at any location, the desired channel and the channels surrounding it immediately appear in front of the sound engineer, as though he or she had instantaneously moved in front of those channels on a traditional long console. With this single touch, 800 previously out-of-reach controls snap to within reach. Even the handwritten channel description is transferred to the digital scribble strip in front of the user. Alternatively, the sound engineer can access individual channels in any order as easily and as quickly as a musical director can point to his players. The Smart Console is the first audio console design to reduce both the number of knobs on a panel and the number of actions required in order to gain access to out-of-reach controls.
The Smart Console control surface is designed as an open platform to capitalize on the strengths and experience of leading audio manufacturers' digital engines. Smart AV's goal is to offer its customers access to the best of all audio worlds.
The Smart Console is initially available for use with the following mixing engines:
- Logic Pro 6 from Apple (formerly Emagic)
- VADIS System from KLOTZ DIGITAL
- Pyramix Virtual Studio from Merging Technologies
- QDC engine from Fairlight
- DME64N and DME24N from Yamaha
Smart AV is also pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with SADiE for the development of an interface with its new PCM-H64 large-scale multi-format platform.
