Internet Radio Station Pure Pop Hits to Play "50,000 Songs In A Row" by Pitbull, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, FloRida and More Beginning Today at Noon PT/3 PM ET
(July 30, 2012)Burbank, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2012
Speculation about the future of legendary west coast shock jock Tom Leykis ended on April 2nd of this year when he shocked radio insiders by returning from an over three-year hiatus with a live, streaming internet call-in show that drew over 400,000 listeners in its first week rather than returning to traditional brick-and-mortar radio. And now he's prepared to surprise the terrestrial radio business again, this time going after a totally different audience: 12-to-24-year-olds.
Pure Pop Hits, a live music stream that mimics the playlists of popular stations such as New York's Z-100 and Now FM, LA's KIIS-FM and Amp Radio, and Chicago's B-96 and Kiss-FM, will begin playing 50,000 songs without commercial interruption beginning today at 12 noon Pacific time/3 PM Eastern time.
"50,000 in a row means that we won't play a single commercial for the rest of 2012," said Leykis. "Next time you're listening to hit music, ask yourself why you tolerate the constant commercials, phony rose giveaways and hokey DJs of your local top-40 radio station."
Core artists on Pure Pop Hits include Pitbull, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, P!nk, FloRida, Kelly Clarkson and Usher. No song will be over three years old, and lyrics will play completely uncensored.
Just why is Tom Leykis so interested in trying to make a dent in the hit music radio format after a career in talk radio? "Sadly, the radio business is in a world of hurt these days and it just isn't willing or able to give listeners what they want, " said Leykis. "Most listeners are voting with their feet and their ears, getting what they want anywhere and everywhere they can."
Pure Pop Hits can be heard through the popular TuneIn app for iPhone and Android as well as on iTunes, Windows Media Player, WInamp, and any number of other popular internet media players. The 24/7 stream can be found on Facebook and Twitter. Tom Leykis insists that Pure Pop Hits will constantly be on the search for listener input and requests. "Why won't traditional radio give the people what they want?" asked Leykis. "If you listen to hit music, call your favorite station and ask them when they'll start playing 50,000 in a row."
Pure Pop Hits is one of four music streams presented or produced by Leykis's New Normal Music LLC, based in Burbank, CA. The others are active rock-formatted New Normal Rock, indie pop New Normal Music, and oldies Great Big Radio. New Normal Music LLC and The New Normal LLC can be reached by writing info(at)newnormalnetwork(dot)com or by calling (818) 476-5454.
