Intelligent Gadgets to Debut Frame-Accurate Media Player at NAB 2006syncVUE allows multiple users to simultaneously view and annotate media files in perfect sync from different locations (April 27, 2006)
Intelligent Gadgets has introduced syncVUE, billed as the world's first media synchronizer designed for SKYPE and answering the needs of anyone working in the video, film or audio production and post production markets. Editors, mixers, animators, producers, directors and advertising agencies will benefit from the synchronized shared viewing experience that syncVUE provides whether users are separated by cubicles, city blocks or continents.
syncVUE integrates a powerful media player with frame accurate collaborative control enabled by the extremely popular SKYPE network with VOIP (voice over internet protocol). Capable of playing any media file supported by QuickTime (including Windows Media and MXF files via a separate plug-in from Telestream), syncVUE leverages the powerful video/audio chat capabilities of SKYPE with its own synchronized media playback capability. Participants in a syncVUE session can add time-code-based text annotations (markers) that are automatically propagated to all connected clients. Markers may contain titles and extensive notes for a quick and easy "review and approval" process. If desired, users can opt to create all their annotations "offline", then once connected in a session, their annotations will be instantly inherited by the others clients. When the session is complete, the markers can be exported to popular non-linear editors such as Final Cut Pro or other NLE systems.
"syncVUE is one of the most clever and useful tools to come down the pike in years. Intelligent Gadgets has used their engineering savvy to thwart geography and enhance collaboration. syncVUE is a must-have product." Mark Baldwin, Editor - CSI Miami
?Because of its simplicity and low cost, syncVUE makes remote collaboration accessible to editors who never would have considered it before. The first time you share a sequence with someone you'll be hooked. Steve Cohen, ACE Ramblin Rose, Fifteen Minutes
Michael Buday, President of Intelligent Gadgets and a highly respected editor for over twenty years, states, "We've designed syncVUE to appeal to many vertical markets, from the most demanding film/video editors or animators to smaller market wedding videographers and video enthusiasts. From my own experience working in London and Hollywood, I often need to review a scene with a client who either does not, or can not, travel to my location. In the past, I would output a file, and send it to them to watch on their own time - or we would talk on the phone as we attempted to watch it together. We expended enormous energy and time trying to communicate where each person was within the piece of media. With syncVUE, there's no more guessing, we're always seeing exactly the same thing no matter who is controlling the movie."
"Now that I've seen syncVUE in action, I only have one question. Where was this 6 months ago? syncVUE will change the way I do long distance projects and will even speed up approvals from cross-town. Much better than just sending a Quicktime, this tool encourages collaboration.
Eli Tishberg - Director / Editor - Phish Live in Brooklyn, Editor - VH1 Storytellers
