Innobits Updates BitVice MPEG-2 Encoders

Encoders get speed boost, motion-adaptive deinterlacing By Dave Nagel
Innobits has released updates for its BitVice family of MPEG-2 encoding software. The new 1.5 versions get performance increases and new deinterlacing methods. They're available now for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.

The BitVice line includes the BitVice MPEG2 Encoder, BitVice Lite MPEG2 Encoder and BitVice G3 MPEG2 Encoder (a special full version designed specifically for G3-based Macintosh systems). The full versions for G3 and G4 include batch processing, pulldown, fixed GOP and spacial and noise cancellation filters. The new 1.5 versions gain speed increases of 400 percent on the first pass of an encode, according to the company, as well as "smart" and motion-adaptive deinterlacing and improved chroma resolution and registration in interlaced mode.

The full version of BitVice MPEG-2 Encoder is available now for $297. The Lite version is available for $149. And the G3 version sells for $56. For more information, visit
