Information Builders Unveils New Solutions for Emerging Industry TrendsCompany Offers Products for Big Data, Social Media, Cloud, and Salesforce.com (June 04, 2012)
ORLANDO, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 06/04/12 -- Information Builders, a leader in business intelligence (BI) and analytics, information integrity, and integration solutions, today announced at its 2012 Summit User Conference that its product lines are leading the charge in BI innovation with support of big data, social media, cloud, and salesforce.com. As these trends grow more pervasive in the enterprise, Information Builders is continuing its history of providing innovative solutions tailored to the needs of its customers by adapting its offerings to embrace industry changes.
More organizations are struggling to manage large sets of structured and unstructured data and to access this information in near real time regardless of its size or form. Information Builders offers unique functionalities with its WebFOCUS and iWay product lines that enable organizations to gather and process data sets of increasing velocity, variety, and volume. A key component of Information Builders' big data offering is the company's adoption of column-oriented technology into the WebFOCUS platform. Some of this is achieved through Information Builders' partner program, which includes relationships with organizations such as 1010data, Teradata, HP Vertica, and EMC/Greenplum. In addition, the company's integrity capabilities help users correlate information from disparate systems and ensure that it is cleansed and standardized before it spreads to other parts of the organization.
Another element of Information Builders' big data offering is WebFOCUS Hyperstage, a query-optimized data store embedded into the WebFOCUS environment, which uses analytics to accelerate the speed and efficiency of applications that handle high numbers of queries or large volumes of data. Released earlier this year, Information Builders developed WebFOCUS Hyperstage in response to customer demand for faster response time on large data set applications.
What began as a platform for engaging personal connections has become a powerful enterprise resource for gathering feedback about a company and its products. As Facebook's popularity grows, Information Builders is helping its customers glean valuable data from the channel and incorporate this information into existing reporting infrastructure. The WebFOCUS Facebook Adapter contains publicly accessible posts and comments and allows organizations to aggregate the data and embed it in charts and dashboards already deployed in the organization. Information Builders' Facebook Adapter is also augmented with Word analytics capabilities, enabling users to better understand the sentiment behind individual posts and comments for deeper analysis. To further supplement its sentiment analysis offering, Information Builders recently introduced this capability into WebFOCUS Magnify, its enterprise search platform. With this solution, users can process and perform sentiment analysis on both structured and unstructured content, including from platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Cloud and SaaS
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) and the cloud are fast-growing markets in the BI industry. To enable its customers to take advantage of the burgeoning cloud trend, Information Builders offers subscription pricing that allows them to avoid the substantial upfront costs associated with implementing new applications in the cloud. With scalability features such as load-balancing, failover, and the ability to start or stop servers on demand, users can enjoy all of the benefits of the cloud model without incurring high costs or expending significant resources. Information Builders has also launched enhancements to WebFOCUS that improve security and simplify the administration of SaaS deployments. A key component of this offering is its native support for multi-tenancy, which enables service providers to reduce costs by securely hosting customers in a shared environment that can quickly scale to accommodate growing demand.
Information Builders has provided solutions for salesforce.com for a number of years. Its newest adapters enable customers to build reports and dashboards directly from their salesforce.com implementation. With this solution, users can combine data from salesforce.com with information from other systems, building a more holistic data warehouse of enterprise information. The feature also enables WebFOCUS to be embedded directly into the Salesforce portal, enabling the platform to function as if it were part of the salesforce.com application.
"A key factor in Dealer Services' long-standing relationship with Information Builders is the company's ability to continually innovate and augment its offerings to meet the changing demands of our business," said Chris Brady, CIO of Dealer Services. "With the rise of mobility, social media, cloud computing, and other industry trends, BI has become increasingly more complex and increasingly more valuable to stakeholders outside of the IT department. I'm confident that Information Builders is monitoring these emerging trends and equipping me and my team with the tools we need to analyze information coming in from these disparate sources to do our jobs more effectively."
"Being an innovative leader in the BI industry is something upon which Information Builders has always prided itself," said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. "The flexibility of our product lines enables us to swiftly adapt not only to customer demand, but also to new industry trends; because of this, I'm confident the company is well positioned to meet the new challenges our industry will pose as BI grows more pervasive enterprise wide."
