Indictment unsealed in LA Coliseum contracts probeFelony indictment of 6 unsealed in probe of Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum operations
LOS ANGELES (AP) ' Authorities have unsealed a 29-count felony indictment against two former executives of the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and four other people, including promoters of rave events.
The indictment released Friday by Los Angeles County prosecutors alleges bribery, embezzlement, conspiracy and conflict of interest.
It claims that millions of dollars were stolen from the operations of the venerable stadium that has been a landmark since the 1920s.
Among events cited by prosecutors in opposing bail for the defendants is a rave where a young woman suffered a drug overdose and later died.
Prosecutors claim the promoters were undeterred by that and pressed for more raves, providing bribes to win access to the venue.
Four defendants have appeared in court and a judge entered pleas of not-guilty for them.
