InSpeck Introduces 3D Full Body DigitizerVisit InSpeck at Siggraph 2001 in Booth 511 (August 11, 2001)
With applications where measurements of human bodies, virtual characters and avatars can be used in animation and games, ergonomic design and medical research, this non-contact optical 3D digitizer can easily acquire high-resolution 3D models of the human body. The 3D Full Body can acquire texture and 3D coordinates of over half a million points in about one second. It uses the same camera to capture a subject's 3D coordinates and color texture. It also uses a halogen white-light source instead of a laser to provide lighting for color image capturing that is harmless to the human body.
Montreal-based InSpeck is a leading provider of halogen-based, color, non-contact optical 3D digitizers and 3D modeling software – all designed to seamlessly support applications for modeling, animation, multimedia, biomedical research and electronic games. InSpeck products are considered a defacto standard for use in applications requiring the digitizing of free-form objects and the human form. The company’s digitizers are used the world over by major production and post-production facilities and have been used in the production of a number of films, including X-Men, Bait and Exit Wounds. Clients include Sony Computer Entertainment America, Electronic Arts, Procter&Gamble, Warner Brothers and France Telecom. InSpeck has earned a reputation for its products’ ease-of-use, capture speed, capacity to measure texture and geometry simultaneously and affordability.
