InFocus Launches Home Theater Projector

DLP-based ScreenPlay 4800 offers SVGA resolution, 2,000:1 contrast ratio By Dave Nagel
InFocus has launched its new ScreenPlay 4800, the third model in its line of home theater projectors. The single-chip DLP-based model comes in at about $1,500 and is available now.

The ScreenPlay 4800 uses Faroduja's deinterlacing technology, DCDi, and offers native SVGA (800 x 600) resolution, a brightness of 1,100 ANSI lumens, a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and 16.7-million color wheel. It has a throw range of 1.5 meters to 9.8 meters for images up to 21.6 feet wide. Other features include:

  • Connectors for S-video, composite and component;
  • Digital keystone correction +/- 20 degrees;
  • Front, rear and ceiling modes;
  • Throw ratio of 1.89:1 to 2.27:1;
  • Compatibility with component and RGB HDTV (720p, 1035i, 1080i, 1080p), component EDTV (480p, 576p progressive scan), component, composite and S-video standard video.
