InFocus Announces Projector Network SystemResource for IT/AV Asset Managers (November 12, 2001)
The InFocus solution uses a "plug-in" to existing IT software to remotely monitor, control and troubleshoot multiple projectors on the corporate network and is fully compatible with existing and future system projectors from InFocus Corporation. This capability will reduce the total cost of ownership by helping companies extend the life of their projectors, prevent theft, avoid projector downtime and provide warnings on maintenance issues such as low lamp life remaining, says the company. In addition, corporations need not purchase new projectors to realize the benefits because of the solution's legacy compatibility.
Digital projectors from InFocus' line of InFocus-, Proxima- and ASK-brands can be hooked up to the network either through a built-in network interface connector (NIC), or through an adapter which connects to legacy products from InFocus through the RS-232 port. InFocus software is installed on the server and a helpdesk PC, from which all networked projectors can be accessed. Compliance with Microsoft Management Console enables integration with existing systems management software.
