PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) ' A 911 recording reveals a social worker pleading with a dispatcher to send authorities quickly to the home of Josh Powell after he locked himself and his two sons in the home he set ablaze.
In a phone call that lasted more than six minutes, the social worker tells the dispatcher she was behind the children when the father shut the door in her face, and she fears for their lives.
She also explains that she smells gasoline and hears crying, saying four-minutes into the call that the boys have been locked in the home for 10 minutes.
Josh Powell was scheduled for a supervised visit with his sons Sunday. Authorities say he locked the door, used a hatchet on his kids, and lit the house on fire.
