Imagine Products Ships Mac Digital Clip Library and HD LogNew Macintosh video loggers and web database applications (May 19, 2005)
Imagine Products, Inc. announces the release and general availability of the Mac Digital Clip Library, "Built for Mac OS X", and HD Log V3.0 with new, "VIDEO ASSIST" mode that auto-digitizes preview or edit quality, timecode accurate clips from CamCorders on the fly.
Mac Digital Clip Library is a turnkey digital library solution with everything you need to setup IntraNet or Web sharing of logs, thumbnails and video clips. It includes HD Log Gold logger, a registered MySQL Database, and Web Search module with shopping cart. http://www.imagineproducts.com/mac_library.htm
Whether you're looking for a simple single-user setup on a single Mac computer, or need a more robust multi-user environment that digitizes and shares QuickTime clips over the web, the library can be configured to fit your needs. Powerful cataloging features save time and promote data consistency in describing and sharing analog or digital content with text and images.
Since database connectivity is IP based, loggers can be on the LAN or across the country and contribute or query the shared clips. This gives "desktop editing" capability to users of the archives--they can play clips, adjust IN/OUT points, sort, combine clips with non-archived logs, and output a shot log for the editor.
The Web Browser search module allows you to offer a "stock footage" web site. Users (without HD Log Gold) can search your custom database, see thumbnails and text, play clips and collect them in a "shopping cart". The "check out" features emails you with the clips your customers want to use or purchase.
Each Library system has customizable data fields, easy database setup and configuration, and selectable web browser data fields. One or many HD Log Gold loggers may be connected to the database at any time.
With the click of a button from any HD Log Gold logging station, you can "Send" your finished log file to the database, merging all your clips into a single repository. Database files are automatically appended and indexed for fast searching. Any thumbnail frame grabs and QuickTime video files are automatically linked via unique asset identification numbers (barcodes).
HD Log Silver and Gold, V3.0 editions are specifically designed for seamless XML export of clips to Apple Computer's Final Cut Pro HD. http://www.imagineproducts.com/HDLog.htm
HD Log's "VIDEO ASSIST" is great for monitoring HD work without expensive downconverters or wear and tear on your camera heads. Just plug the USB timecode reader and analog (or DV input) into your PowerBook. HD Log watches for incoming timecode to start recording, then stops when timecode stops. You can immediately review the clip without waiting for it to render or save to file. And, it automatically names the clips eliminating annoying file save dialogs.
In addition to single clip QT files, use HD Log Gold's Batch Digitize option to automatically control the deck and capture clips for entire log files. The encoding options allow for individualized files for each clip--keeping them small and manageable. Adjustments for adding Head and Tail frames let you "pad" the clips to ensure the meaningful material is fully preserved. Use the Merge Rule if you want multiple entries contained within roughly equal length video clips (chunks).
And the precise embedded timecode assures frame accurate playback and useful QuickTime files for editing in Final Cut Pro, Avid and others. Use HD Log Silver to log and capture clips for Adobe After Effects or other non-digitizing applications. Tiger, QuickTime 7, and H.264 compatible.
HD Log is the ultimate in flexible logging. You can set up custom templates, capture thumbnail pictures along with timecode, digitize clips, print out storyboards, sort files, search logs, select the best clips, copy and paste the clips into new log files. Also import, export, and translate batch digitizing files and EDLs between various nonlinear systems.
All products mentioned are available and shipping. HD Log Silver is $499; HD Log Gold $699. Mac Digital Clip Library is $6999 (includes HD Log Gold, MySQL library module and Web search shopping cart). All Macintosh products are compatible with OSX 10.3 or higher--including Tiger 10.4.
