IOGear Ships Portable FireWire Drives

IOGear has started shipping a new line of portable external hard drives. The new drives, called Ion, offer a combination of FireWire and USB 2.0/1.1 connectivity. They're available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows.

The new Ion combo drives include three individual connection ports for USB 2.0, USB 1.1 and FireWire. They offer a 7,200 RPM mechanism and are available in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch heights. The drives are available in configurations ranging from 20 GB to 120 GB.

The 2.5-inch models start at $199.95 for a 20 GB configuration. The 3.5-inch models start at $179.95 for a 40 GB configuration. The drives are compatible with Mac OS 9 (FireWire and USB 1.1), Mac OS X and Windows. For more information and specifications, visit
