IOGear Ships FireWire 800 Cards

PCI cards available for Mac OS X and Windows By Dave Nagel
IOGear has released its first series of FireWire 800 cards. The new models are available in two configurations, both PCI based, offering different connectors for linking up with external devices.

IOGear's new cards bring FireWire 800 compatibility to computers that don't ship with FireWire 800 ports, including Windows systems and older Macs. They allow users to connect with all upcoming FireWire 800 devices, including hard disk drives, digital cameras, scanners and camcorders. They offer data transfer speeds of 800 Mbps and are backward-compatible with FireWire 400 devices.

The cards are available in two configurations, one with three FireWire 800 ports, the second with two FireWire 800 ports and one standard FireWire 400 port. Both versions sell for $99.95 and are available now for Mac OS X and Windows. For more information, visit http://www.iogear.com.
