INTERspectacular Applies Re-Design Talent For Comedy Central Mobile

To Cable Net's Burgeoning Mobile Services (March 27, 2006)

Concept and design studio INTERspectacular recently applied its award-winning re-design talents to COMEDY CENTRAL's Mobile. After garnering numerous awards in 2004/05 for their collaboration with the cable net on its innovative new, on-air look, INTERspectacular was the natural choice to apply their broadcast design vision to the very small screen of cel phones, PDAs and other mobile devices. Additionally, INTERspectacular completed the broadcast spots featuring COMEDY CENTRAL Mobile, which are currently airing on COMEDY CENTRAL and MTV.

Having joined forces with mobile carriers across the U.S., COMEDY CENTRAL Mobile offers users content from current COMEDY CENTRAL on-air programming, ring tones, ring backs, wallpaper -- plus daily jokes and greetings.

The creative assignment given to the team at INTERspectacular was to translate the design aesthetic they had developed for COMEDY CENTRAL on-air to a vertical format for mobile devices. One aspect was to develop a unique logo --  for Comedy Central Mobile character. The new design and branding package had to work on multiple mobile devices, on-air for broadcast including standard definition tv and High-Def, and also in-print. It was applied to a broadcast commercial campaign, as well as a print advertising campaign promoting COMEDY CENTRAL Mobile. INTERspectacular also created opens, bumpers, end pages and the original music.

Very well-known for their original character development, creating the COMEDY CENTRAL Mobile character was particularly rewarding says INTERspectacular Creative Director Michael Uman. "We wanted him to appear active and on the go," details Uman. "He's always doing fun activities, to show his alignment with the goal of mobile services, which is to provide entertaining programming while viewers or subscribers are out in the world: working, commuting or hanging out with their friends."

This past fall, INTERspectacular created a series of short films for or rather "feature" films for Arnold Worldwide. Represented by Curious Pictures, INTERspectacular completed 8 short films in all, each depicting a new and exciting, "not so standard" feature of the 2006 Volkswagen Passat. Also last fall, INTERspectacular wrote and directed a series of celebrity opens for the third season of PBS' "Art: 21 -- Art in the Twenty-First Century." Each 45-second open featured a unique theme, and highlighted a different celebrity, including David Alan Grier, Isabella Rosellini, Sam Waterston and Grant Hill. Four of INTERspectacular's animated pieces for COMEDY CENTRAL ("Robogirl," "Alphonse and Orville," "Monster Munchies," and "Stumpy") were showcased at the prestigious Ottawa Animation Festival. Other projects completed last fall at INTERspectacular included a promotional campaign for Bill Maher 's comedy special for HBO, and a promotional spot for "Most Haunted" on The Travel Channel. They also designed an environmental promotional piece for Banco Popular via Bravo/New York for the NASDAQ-branded super sign on the side of a skycraper in New York City's Times Square; and also revised Target spots via Mother for the Super Sign in Times Square on New Year's Eve '06. For Fuel TV, they have just completed several short, animated, comedic IDs.

About INTERspectacular:
Co-Founders/Creative Directors Luis Blanco and Michael Uman launched New York-based concept and design boutique INTERspectacular in Fall of 2003 with the awarding of Comedy Central's original re-design project. In 2004/05, Comedy Central called on INTERspectacular once again to develop and grow the new look. Under Blanco and Uman's guidance, along with Executive Producer Greg Babiuk, completing a successful second year in business meant that INTERspectacular provided creative concepting, writing, directing, motion graphics, print design, music and character development for a diverse group of clients in the television network, cable net and advertising arenas. In fact, the company was recently chosen to be profiled by "Crain's New York Business" as an example of a 21st century company formed with a unique business model.
