IDC Report Highlights Intelligent Desktop Market Leader Virtual Computer(February 16, 2012)
WESTFORD, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/16/12 -- Virtual Computer, the market leader in intelligent desktop virtualization (IDV), was highlighted in a new report by IDC, the premier provider of market intelligence and advisory services for the information technology industry. Virtual Computer offers the market-leading IDV solution, with the ability to virtualize both desktop and notebook computers. The new report states, "With more notebook PCs sold in the enterprise than desktop PCs, a virtualization solution that can address PCs disconnected from the network is no longer a recommendation but a requirement."
IDV offers the benefits of server-hosted VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) at a fraction of the cost by running the virtualized desktops securely on a client hypervisor. This results in major data center savings -- eliminating incremental investment in servers, network, and storage. It also reduces operations, power, and cooling costs. IDV offers unbeatable performance because the virtual desktop is executing locally, so it works and feels like a native PC. Virtual Computer's type-1 client hypervisor also protects the endpoint with the highest level of security -- including full-disk encryption, total isolation of virtual machines, time-based lockout, and remote kill. These benefits can only be achieved with a true type-1 hypervisor, the industry standard for server virtualization.
According to the IDC report, "With economic uncertainty and budget constraints, a distributed virtual desktop solution, such as Virtual Computer's, is an option that could provide a very quick return on investment with low capital expenditure outlay."
"While virtualization giants like VMware have been focusing on VDI solutions, issues such as cost, complexity, performance, and lack of mobility continue to present challenges. IDV addresses all of these issues, providing complete centralized management capabilities to IT and delivering better performance at a significantly lower cost," said Dan McCall, CEO of Virtual Computer.
