Howard Hall Will Receive Kodak Vision Award At GSCA Conference

Howard Hall will receive the Kodak Vision Award here at the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) conference on March 30 at the Universal CityWalk IMAX Theatre.

?This tribute is presented annually to an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to advancing the art of large format visual storytelling, says Beverly Pasterczyk of Kodaks Entertainment Imaging Division. ?Howard Hall is a visionary producer, director and cinematographer who has mastered the art of creating stories for large format screens. His natural history films have made an indelible impression on millions of fans.

Hall graduated from San Diego State University in 1974 with a degree in zoology. He was a diving instructor in the San Diego area from 1972 until 1978 when his career segued into specializing in underwater cinematography and photojournalism. Hall has worked on six IMAX films, three as director and an additional three as director of underwater cinematography.


His current film, DEEP SEA 3D opened worldwide on 45 IMAX screens in early March. The film was produced and distributed by IMAX Corporation and financed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Halls other IMAX projects include INTO THE DEEP (director, 1994), THE LIVING SEA (director of underwater cinematography, 1995), ISLAND OF THE SHARKS (director, 1999), JOURNEY INTO AMAZING CAVES (underwater cinematographer, 1999), LIFE IN THE BALANCE (director of underwater cinematography, 2000) and CORAL REEF ADVENTURE (director of underwater cinematography, 2003).

Howard Hall Productions, a co-venture with his wife Michele Hall, has also created nine natural history films for television. He has earned six Emmy Awards for cinematography.
