House of Moves Completes Motion Capture for LucasArts Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader(September 09, 2001)
"Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader pushes Nintendo GameCube to its limits," says Tom Byron, director of product marketing for LucasArts. "The incredible graphics, tight controls, and intense game play make Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader the closest thing to 'playing the movie'
that LucasArts has ever achieved."
"From what we have seen of the title so far, Factor 5 and LucasArts are going to blow away any preconceptions of what is possible on GameCube," noted Jarrod Phillips, vice-president of sales and marketing for HOM. Motion capture is really just adding icing to the cake."
Julian Eggebrecht, Factor 5 president, added, "We knew that only motion capture would be able to provide the sense of realism we were after for our human characters in Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. Working with House of Moves has allowed us to maintain the look of the movies throughout
the entire game."
For the project House of Moves captured and delivered hundreds of motions that Factor 5 is incorporating into the game in conjunction with key-frame animation. HOMs Dominatrix plug-in for Maya is being used by the animators at Factor 5 to combine the hyper-realistic digital motion with their pre-existing animation control structure inside of Maya.
David Stripinis, director of animation at Factor 5, states, "Working with House of Moves has been fantastic. They have a staff that understands what we need and go out of their way to make sure we get the utmost quality, on time. "
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader is currently slated to release in the Fall of 2001 for Nintendo GameCube. More information on the title is available on LucasArts website at: http://www.lucasarts.com/e3/six/ .
