Homestead Contributes To Ad Council Tsunami PSASpots feature former Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton (February 23, 2005)
In response to the recent tsunami disaster, which devastated numerous countries in southeast Asia and east Africa, former Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton filmed a public service announcement for an Ad Council campaign designed to encourage the American people to make cash donations to the tsunami relief effort through www.usafreedomcorps.gov. Leading postproduction boutique Homestead Editorial contributed its time and talent to the cause by editing :60, :30, :25 and :15 versions of the PSA.

The Ad Council PSA brings light to the millions of people affected by the tragedy. ?Tsunami Relief is a heartfelt call to action from the two former presidents and features George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton in the White House Library as they direct Americans to visit USAfreedomcorps.gov, where they can find a list of humanitarian organizations accepting donations to aid in the disaster relief. In the :30 spot, Clinton begins, ?The greatest source of Americas generosity is the good heart of the people. Bush continues, ?In the aftermath of the devastating tsunami, we come to you not as presidents, but as two private citizens. Clinton then urges people to donate via usafreedomcorps.gov to choose a reputable authorized charity. The PSA concludes with Bush, ?No one can change what happened... and Clinton, ?...but we can all change what happens next, and a sincere thank you from the two men.
?The spot was rather straightforward editorially; however, the main challenge was completing the entire project within one day, explains Editor Chris Hellman. ?The final line of the spot where Clinton finishes Bushs sentence was initially included in the :30 version only, but we felt it was so powerful that it needed to be in the other versions as well. Despite the time constraints, the collaboration was really smooth and everyone was on the same page. It was a pleasure to team up with the client Ad Council and McCann Erickson again, having worked with both of them before.
I think the spot is successful in its simplicity and impact.
