Homeless man suspected of shooting 2 at Md. church

Police say homeless man shot 2 women at Maryland church before taking own life By The Associated Press

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) ' Police say an angry, homeless man fatally shot a church worker in Maryland and critically wounded an Episcopal priest before taking his own life.

Howard County police identified the suspect Friday as 56-year-old Douglas Franklin Jones.

Investigators found his body Thursday night in the woods near St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, about 14 miles west of Baltimore. A gun was found nearby.

Fifty-nine-year-old Brenda Brewington was pronounced dead Thursday evening at the church.

The church's co-rector, 62-year-old Mary-Marguerite Kohn of Halethorpe, was in critical condition Friday afternoon at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
