Homeless killer suspect says he deserves deathTranscript: Ex-Marine accused of 6 Calif. murders told investigator he had the 'killer gene'
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) ' A former Marine has told investigators he deserves the death penalty for the stabbing deaths of four California homeless men as part of a planned killing spree and said he believed he had the "killer gene."
A copy of a grand jury transcript obtained Thursday shows an investigator interviewed Itzcoatl Ocampo following his arrest in connection with the murders in December and January.
Ocampo is also accused of killing his high school friend's mother and brother in Yorba Linda in October. The transcript shows he told an investigator in February he committed those murders.
Ocampo was indicted on six counts of murder in February and has pleaded not guilty. The district attorney has not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty.
A message left for Ocampo's attorney wasn't immediately returned.
