HomeOwnership.org Mortgage Advisor Provides 24-Hour Assistance to Struggling Homeowners

Free, Easy to Use Service Finds Available Mortgage Assistance Options (November 09, 2011)

RIVERSIDE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/09/11 -- With various government, servicer and agency programs available, many struggling homeowners don't know where to start. HomeOwnership.org, an easy to use web portal developed by Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management, now provides a new online service to guide homeowners to options and solutions for them. The Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM) provides a simple, step-by-step process to guide the homeowner to possible workout solutions for their unique situation. There is no fee to use the Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM), which is provided by Springboard -- a HUD approved housing counseling agency that has been helping people since 1974. Springboard has helped almost 250,000 homeowners since the financial crisis began in 2007.

The new online resource tool is available to help struggling homeowners navigate the many government, servicer and agency programs offering mortgage payment relief. Springboard's Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM) is a virtual tool that may be accessed 24-hours a day, 7-days a week through HomeOwnership.org, the agency's web portal specifically designed to provide homeowners with the latest information on home preservation and foreclosure prevention.

"Struggling homeowners often don't know where to turn," said Melinda Opperman, Springboard's senior vice president. "HomeOwnership.org is a safe haven where troubled homeowners can go to get answers quickly and easily online," said Opperman.

"We're optimistic that this tool will provide another option for distressed homeowners," said Aaron Horvath, president of HomeOwnership.org, a division of Springboard.

Struggling homeowners now can visit HomeOwnership.org/Advisor to find out what's right for them. The counselor will be able to use the data from HomeOwnership.org to navigate and discuss the different options available to the homeowner. If need be, the counselor will engage in a conference call with the homeowner and the mortgage servicer to begin the work-out process.

Springboard provides telephone counseling services to struggling homeowners nationwide. "We have counselors standing by to help homeowners," said Horvath.

Springboard's Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM) is simple to use. Once the homeowner completes a short questionnaire, the Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM) will provide a list of potential program solutions. The homeowner will also have the option of speaking directly with a Springboard financial counselor who will answer any question related to specific mortgage relief programs.

"There is no charge to speak with a counselor or to access the Online Mortgage Advisor," said Opperman. "This is an enhanced level of service and help that we're pleased to provide homeowners," said Opperman.

Here is how it works:

Step 1: Visit www.HomeOwnership.org/Advisor and click Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM)
Step 2: Answer simple profile questions
Step 3: Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM) provides list of potential program solutions
Step 4: Complete online Mortgage Assistance Application
Step 5: If you need help getting started, a certified housing counselor will be assigned to you
In addition, Homeowners without Internet access can speak directly with a certified mortgage counselor by calling Springboard's homeowner hotline at (800) 294-3896.

Springboard encourages troubled homeowners who have missed any mortgage payments or are about to, to work with a HUD-approved housing counseling agency. Springboard's financial counselors are available to help homeowners assess their circumstances, identify options and help prepare them to work with their mortgage company. As an example of Springboard's dedication to promoting financial literacy, stable homeownership, and a healthy economy, the Mortgage Assistance Advisor(SM) has been created as an essential tool in helping troubled borrowers identify options for their mortgage situation.
