Hollywood Reviews with cineSync

New cineSync v1.1 redefines the post production review and approval paradigm (May 25, 2006)

Rising Sun Research, an innovative developer of tools for visual professionals, today announced the public release of cineSync v1.1, a new version of the company's ground-breaking remote review and approval tool.  Based on AppleŽ QuickTime technology, cineSync continues to redefine the post production review and approval paradigm.

The new release simplifies the process of securely sharing media, using a built-in FTP client and playlist organiser to simplify your review sessions.  New arrow and circle drawing tools, plus black- and white-board options, make it even easier to communicate your ideas with others around the world and then save the frames for later reference.  And the ability to add text markers throughout a sequence makes locating specific shots faster than ever.

cineSync offers an unparalleled user experience, making it simple for guests to participate in a session without needing to create their own account or install a third-party application.  The fact that all communication is handled by the proprietary cineSync server ensures that your privacy is never compromised and media is contained securely.

The tool of choice for post-production review and approval, cineSync was featured during a special demonstration the Apple booth at NAB2006.  President of Meteor Studios, Pierre de Lespinois, highlighted its critical role in delivering a complete promo spot for the Discovery Channel in just 15 days.  "Once we had a cut or an edit, or even a shot that we wanted to discuss, we sent the Quicktime via FTP and could then share it with about ten people looking at one time, making comments on it right then and there," explains de Lespinois.

"It's able to connect us," agrees John Copeland, Producer at Evergreen Films, who played a critical role in the project delivery. "We had three different cities in different parts of the continent - Montreal, Silver Springs and Los Angeles - and it brought us together as if we were all in the same room."

Even before its initial release last year, cineSync was adopted as an integral part of the post-production workflow on major films, with recent credits including Shaggy Dog, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and War of the Worlds.  "It has probably made me give up satellite transmission systems forever," enthuses Stephen Rosenbaum, Visual Effects Supervisor on Shaggy Dog.  cineSync has also found a place in the production of episodic television, with both Alias and Lost benefiting from this unique tool.

The release of cineSync v1.1 brings a new level of refinement and features stemming from the close relationship Rising Sun Research has with its customers.  Feedback from users on the front line in companies such as MPC, Weta, Frantic Films and The Orphanage is an integral part of the development process, ensuring that cineSync is closely aligned with ever-changing workflow demands.

"It is clear that cineSync is simply the tool of choice for companies that are serious about their reviews," states Clint Walker, CEO of Rising Sun Research. "The fact that the biggest names in the industry choose cineSync for the largest Hollywood productions says a lot about the impact that it has had on the post-production review process.  This new release is the result of close collaboration with users in crafting a review tool that people love to use."

cineSync v1.1 is available immediately through Rising Sun Research and runs on Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms.  For more information, visit the official cineSync website at or email
