High winds, winter weather for ColoradoHigh winds delay flights at Denver International Airport; 80 mph gusts reported in foothills
DENVER (AP) ' Flights at Denver International Airport are being delayed because of strong winds hitting Colorado.
Arriving flights can only approach from the west because of winds gusting up to 40 mph on Wednesday. That's delaying flights an average of 1 hours.
There have been gusts up to around 80 mph in the foothills west of the city and forecasters say gusts up to 100 mph are possible. The warm winds could also drive temperatures into the 60s along Colorado's Front Range.
The mountains, meanwhile, are getting snow from a winter storm. The National Weather Service says the northern mountains could get up to 30 inches of snow before the storm ends Thursday.
