Hello Totem Surpasses RadioShack and Best Buy iPhone Buyback Programs

  (July 12, 2011)

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 12, 2011, the leading online provider in the mobile phone buyback industry, outperforms RadioShack and Best Buy in every bid it offers consumers who want to sell their used iPhones.

For example, the popular black iPhone 4 that is equipped with 32 GB of memory is valued at $400 on At RadioShack, the same phone is given a trade-in value of $260. To qualify for the highest offer, the used iPhone must be in near perfect condition, power on and include the charger. If it is a Verizon phone, the offer will go down even further.

Best Buys program operates a bit differently. For a $40-60 fee per purchased product, customers are given a return of 20 to 50 percent of the items original value during the first two years after purchase, if it is in good, working condition and has all its parts and accessories. The iPhone trade-in value is based on the full retail price, not the sale price. This means a $699 iPhone 4 with 32 GB, which typically sells for $299 with a two-year contract, will be offered a trade-in value of $349.50 within the first six months at the most.

With the unveiling of its buyback program in 2008, RadioShack became one of the pioneers in allowing customers to trade in, upgrade and dispose of their old cell phones. Best Buys buyback program, which is tied to its Geek Squad services, has benefitted from a huge media blitz since its launch in early 2011 that coincided with Super Bowl Sunday.

It has quickly become apparent that these programs are little more than a thinly-disguised advertising strategy intended to boost sales for the electronics retailers, notes Totems CEO Nicholas Fiorentino. That is why we created We give our customers some of the fairest rates on the market for a used iPhone, whether it is in mint condition, has a cracked LCD screen, has missing accessories or even if it has been damaged by water.

The Better Business Bureau recently issued a warning advising consumers to carefully consider the benefits and disadvantages of using a chain retailers buyback program. While it can offer the advantage of easy access and guaranteed product upgrades, oftentimes the program comes with high price tags, low return rates, limited in-stock merchandise and strict requirements. Another downside is that these retailers only provide competitive buyback offers on the latest equipment. Totem pays cash for all iPhones that have been released by Apple, including the first-generation 2G smartphone.

One of the biggest drawbacks to the RadioShack and Best Buy programs is that customers can only exchange their old iPhone for in-store credit. This means they are locked into the inventory on hand, which rarely includes the most current products on the market, such as the recently-released iPhone 4 white. Customers who sell their iPhones to Totem can choose to be paid by check or have the funds directly deposited into a PayPal account in as little as two days from the time a quote is requested. Customers are completely free to choose how, when and where they are going to spend their money, whether it is to pay off a bill, fund a vacation or upgrade their technology.

Totem is committed to providing the highest quality buyback program in the industry, while remaining true to its values of social responsibility. The companys expert team of resellers, refurbishers and recyclers work diligently to ensure that consumers have an easy, efficient method to dispose of their old technology in a financially lucrative, yet environmentally friendly manner.
