Hawking Technologies Introduces Wireless-G Range Extender

Double the effective distance of your wireless 802.11b/g network (April 14, 2005)

Hawking Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of innovative wired and wireless networking solutions for home, workgroup, and corporate users, announced today that it has begun shipping the Hi-Gain Wireless-G Range Extender. The new, high performance Wireless-G Range Extender expands Hawkings award-winning line of Hi-Gain WiFi Range Extending products, which allow users to effectively increase the distance and performance of their wireless networks.

The HWUR54G works by taking the wireless signal from any wireless 802.11b/g access point and retransmitting it at a higher rate, effectively doubling the distance of a given wireless network. The Range Extender is placed midway between the original wireless access point and the area that is experiencing poor wireless coverage. The HWUR54G eliminates the need for running long Ethernet cables across the floor to extend internet coverage.

The Hawking Wireless-G Range Extender features new technology that enables the Extender to extend any wireless 802.11b or 802.11g signal.

?Wireless repeaters that are currently on the market are all proprietary and work only with specific models of that specific brand. There is no guarantee that one chipset will work with another chipset. This creates a lot of havoc in a market of end users that just want the product to work out of the box. Hawking has done extensive research and development to create a new ?repeater that is compatible with all wireless access points regardless of the brand, chipset or network type. It works out of the box. Installation of previous repeaters was also another hurdle in getting them into the home and office. The configuration protocol (WDS) used by current repeaters is too confusing for the average user to understand. The HWUR54G features breakthrough setup features that allow users to simply enter in the SSID of the original access point that they wish to repeat. says Jason Owen, Product Marketing Manager at Hawking Technologies.

The Hawking Wireless-G Range Extender installs easily onto any home or office network. The user loads the web-based configuration utility and enters in the SSID of the access point that requires extending. The Extender is then placed at the desired location for wireless range extension, and powered on. New advancements in software coding eliminate the need for confusing setup features and options.

The Hawking Wireless-G Range Extender is compatible with Hawkings entire line of Hi-Gain Wi-Fi Range Extending antennas and boosters for further range extension. From home applications that require range extension to another bedroom or backyard to office applications that require going from one building to another, the HWUR54G is the perfect solution.

Pricing and Availability
The HWUR54G Hi-Gain Wireless-G Range Extender is expected to be available April, 10 2005 via retailers, direct marketers, e-commerce sites, and distribution channels at an (ESP) Estimated Street Price of $99.
