Harris Corporation To Introduce Inscriber G7 Integrated Broadcast Graphics Workflow System Featuring Inscriber MOS v5

True 3D Graphics Creation, High-Performance HD/SD Channel Playout And Advanced MOS Newsroom Functionality To Be Demonstrated (February 21, 2008)
DMN Newswire--2008-2-21--Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will introduce its most advanced HD/SD 3D graphics and animation system for live-to air environments ? the Harris® Inscriber® G7 ? at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention taking place April 14-17 in Las Vegas (Booth N2502, Las Vegas Convention Center). Harris graphics systems form a core component of the company's range of scalable, automated channel playout solutions ? enabling today's broadcast operation to differentiate its on-air look and protect its brand.

The Inscriber® G7 uniquely combines the functionality of multiple products with innovative graphics technology to provide a robust, high-performance 3D graphics creation and HD/SD playout solution with advanced workflow capabilities. A key option for the G7 is the Inscriber® MOS v5 newsroom graphics management solution, which empowers journalists to create customized, template-based graphics from within any newsroom computer system (NRCS), such as ENPS® and iNEWS®, and automatically insert them into their newsroom rundown. Centralized control playout allows all changes to the NRCS playlist generated from the G-Series graphics systems to be automatically updated across multiple channels.

The G7 features a newly designed graphics engine that supports real-time 2D and 3D animations and provides flawless HD graphics simultaneously over two channels. Optimized with integrated clips and a new, comprehensive productivity package that includes G-Scribe+ creation and playout software, the system drives the new G-3D design module for producing illuminating, true 3D broadcast designs in both HD and SD.

"Leveraging powerful workflow enhancements such as the new Inscriber® MOS v5 graphics management newsroom solution, along with seamless integration within the Harris ONE end-to-end interoperability chain, the G7 integrated graphics workflow system provides a progressive solution for demanding broadcast environments," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications.

Highlights of the high-performance features and workflow benefits of the G7 and MOS v5 include the following:

Full 2D and 3D graphics creation and playout with two video inputs per channel, up to 32 channels of discrete audio, and support for 2D and 3D HD DVE.

G-Scribe+ 2D/3D creation and playout software, which delivers sophisticated capabilities such as video capture, charting, simultaneous playback, automation interface for real-time data display connection and intelligent graphics transitions.

G-3D, a design module that elevates broadcast graphics design with illuminating, true 3D graphics and animations in both HD and SD.

Network Manager for G-Series, which bi-directionally manages graphics across a LAN or WAN by publishing content across a local network or through the Internet.

G-Scribe support for custom applications written in RTX.NET. Real-time sports, news and weather data can be streamed and graphically displayed using RTXports on all G-Series systems, including the G7.

Integration with Harris® NewsForce, the comprehensive HD/SD file-based news solution, delivering enhanced workflow to the field, the newsroom and the control room.
Harris graphics products are among the wide range of Harris solutions that optimize the channel release workflows of today's broadcast operations.

Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
