Harris Corporation Deploys ADC Playout Automation System At WWTV(January 10, 2007)
DMN Newswire--2007-1-10--Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has successfully installed its ADC(tm) playout automation system at CBS affiliate WWTV-TV in Cadillac, Michigan, providing the station with programming flexibility while ensuring a single point of control. WWTV has deployed ADC(tm) for the automated play-out of long-form and interstitial content, commercial control, and an increased level of integration with existing traffic and scheduling systems.
"WWTV's longevity remains contingent on technology that can scale and accommodate our pursuit of new business models," said Bill Kring, general manager of WWTV. "Our decision to go with the ADC system was based on the product's price-performance ratio and confidence in the Harris brand."
WWTV broadcasts content to a 250,000-household market 24 hours a day, with five hours of local live news. Workflow efficiencies, system reliability and flawless execution of playlists were critical to maintaining the small-market station's competitive advantage, and were key reasons for WWTV's selection of the cost-effective automation solution from Harris.
The ADC playout automation system from Harris is the premier production room tool for automated dubbing, content management, and program playout. Ideal for small- to mid-size broadcasters, ADC playout automation is capable of controlling a full range of devices including all the latest integrated switchers, branding equipment, and the management of complex effects and playout tasks. Each pre-configured ADC playout automation system can be customized to add air channels or device controls with the option of expansion as station needs grow.
"Harris' ADC playout automation system helps broadcasters increase productivity while reducing operating costs through reliable playout automation," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of the Harris Broadcast Communications Division. "The ADC system's ability to reliably control commercial insertion of local content and branding elements in the broadcast air chain helps today's smaller broadcasters remain competitive in their regional markets."
