Hark Signs Clip Licensing Agreement With Warner Bros. Digital Distribution(April 04, 2012)
SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/04/12 -- Hark, the world's largest platform for pop culture sound bites reaching more than 50 million visitors a month, today announced it has signed a clip licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.
Through this agreement, Hark will now be able to offer consumers the ability to listen to sound bites from approximately 100 titles such as 300, The Matrix, Happy Feet and Casablanca.
"Our agreement with Warner Bros. enables Hark to help transform the way people engage with and share their favorite content," Hark CEO David Aronchick said. "We are proud to be able to include Warner Bros. content in our offerings to the more than 50 million visitors who visit Hark each month."
Hark, a top 10 entertainment site on the Internet for movie content according to comScore, now provides a product library of more than 3-million pieces of content that can be accessed and shared across multiple devices and social media platforms. Through Hark, users can find their favorite sound bites via hundreds of data points, including actor, character, subtitles and many more.
Aronchick said this is a prime example of how studios can provide substantial benefit for consumers while creating new revenue streams from derivative content.
"Hark makes a much larger body of content available from the studios than anyone has offered in the past," Aronchick said. "Studios have only scratched the surface of the available revenue from derivative content. By enabling users to dig deeper, we give them access to the exact content they are looking for and give the creators the chance to capture far more revenue."
Hark's offerings go far beyond its Web site -- the platform provides users the ability to share sound bites through social media sites (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Tumblr), send them directly to mobile devices, and embed players in websites or blogs. Additionally, people have the ability to upload their own clips and share them with friends and family.
Aronchick said that Hark will continue to expand its product catalog with additional partnerships in 2012.
Hark is the world's largest platform for pop culture sound bites. Hark has grown into one of the 10 largest entertainment/movies sites on the Web (comScore, 2012) with more than 50 million visitors per month worldwide. Content from Hark is both viral and interactive and creates a powerful, compelling entertainment experience for consumers and an attractive audience platform for advertisers.
Hark, founded in 2007 by David Aronchick and Fouad ElNaggar, is headquartered in Seattle. For information, please visit www.hark.com.
