HP Ships Photosmart 8124 megapixel camera gets HP's Instant Share technology
Instant Share is an Internet-based application that can send images to their selected destinations as soon as the camera is attached to the computer. For e-mails, the technology allows users to send thumbnails, rather than full-resolution versions, of the images. Recipients can then click on the thumbnail to see the full-resolution image, which is served on HP's own site. Images remain on HP's servers for up to 60 days, and each user is allocated 200 MB of disk space.
The camera itself offers a 4 megapixel resolution and 3x optical zoom with a Pentax lens, as well as a 7x digital zoom. It can also capture motion and sound, though HP had not provided specs on these features as of press time. It can capture up to a minute of footage.
NiMH rechargeable batteries are optional on the unit. When used, the can be recharged inside the camera. The camera requires two AA batteries to operate.
The Photosmart 812 digital camera is available now for $499. For more information, visit http://www.hp.com.
