HDFEST 2004 World Tour Hits L.A.

HD screenings, panels, HD equipment exhibit, and more... (June 24, 2004)

HDFEST's 2004 Los Angeles event marks the second festival on the HDFEST 2004 World Tour, taking place this year in six cities: Sydney, Los Angeles, London, New York, Miami and Finland. The Los Angeles festival will be held at the Sony Culver Studios Ince Theatre July 13th and the Los Angeles Film School July 14th and 15th.

The event will screen a variety of high-definition cinema, exhibit HD equipment and conduct panel discussions on subjects related to HD filmmaking. HDFEST's Los Angeles event will showcase films created using high-definition technology; all screenings will also be in HD format. Admission is free to attend and open to industry professionals as well as the general public with advance pre-registration.

HDFEST was created in 2000 as a film festival exclusively focused on high-definition technology. Last year's HDFEST Los Angeles event broke all digital cinema records by screening the largest ever amount of high-def cinema under one roof. HDFEST's 2004 World Tour taking place in six cities will be presenting more HD cinema and HD panels then last year.

Panel discussions featuring industry experts are also an important part of HDFEST events. Last month's Sydney, Australia event had "standing room only" attendance for the HDFEST panel discussions at the Fox Studios Australia. In Los Angeles, the three panel discussions to be presented at the Sony Ince Theatre July 13th include "High-Definition Filmmaking, the DP's Perspective," "Independent Filmmaking in HD," and "New Visual Frontiers and Digital Solutions." The festival in Los Angeles will also feature more question and answer sessions with HDFEST filmmakers this year, as well as a special visual presentation by discreet on July 15th at 7:30pm.
