HD Hockey Coverage Begins on HDNet Oct. 465 NHL Games To Air On All High-Definition Network (October 03, 2001)
"We immediately recognized the opportunities presented by a new high-definition television network," said Doug Perlman, NHL Senior Vice President of Television and Media Ventures. "The high-definition productions will enable viewers to gain a better appreciation for the speed of our game and the skill of our players."
The NHL was the first professional sports league to sign with HDNet. As part of the agreement, HDNet will produce its "NHL in HD" broadcasts in conjunction with several Fox Sports Net regional outlets, sharing audio and graphics with FSN's standard definition production units. All HDNet programming, including "NHL in HD," is available to DIRECTV subscribers at no additional monthly programming cost.
The following is an "NHL in HD" broadcast schedule for October (all times are ET):

-- Tues., Oct. 23, 9:00 p.m. - Carolina Hurricanes @ Colorado Avalanche
