Grace Church A/V Protected by Furman Sound

Completed an upgrade of its audio/video system (December 07, 2005)

Furman Sound, the most widely recognized and trusted name in AC power conditioning, today announced that Grace Church, a large non-denominational house of worship serving the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minnesota, has completed an upgrade of its audio/video system that incorporates several different Furman products. Performed by Audio Logic Systems of Bloomington, Minn., the installation included the purchase of six new PL-8 Pro Series II 20-amp power conditioners, plus the reinstallation of an HDS-16 headphone/audio-distribution system and eight accompanying HRM-16 headphone/audio remote mixers for a new Yamaha PM1D monitor desk.

Furmans PL-8 Series II power conditioner features proprietary Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus (SMP+) technology, which combines three filtering and protection circuits: Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) to suppress noise dramatically and consistently across the entire dynamic range; Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) to clamp and dissipate damaging transient voltages without sacrificing itself; and Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) to protect against accidental connections to 208 or 240 VAC. It has eight outlets on the rear panel, an additional outlet on the front panel, retractable LED rack lights, and a BNC connector that accepts any standard 12-volt gooseneck lamp. It is protected by a limited three-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.

The HDS-16/HRM-16 distribution system cleanly routes eight mono and four stereo signals to remote mixing locations via Centronics 50-pin cables. Up to eight HRM-16 remote mixers can be connected directly or daisy-chained to a single HDS-16, allowing as many as 16 users to customize eight different mixes. A unique talkback system allows each user to communicate with other users and the main mixing location, and a SOLO system allows the engineer to mute all but one stereo send from the mix location for reviewing recent takes or rough mixes. The 2-RU HDS-16 provides power and signal conditioning to the HRM-16 units, which also feature local effects send/return, line out, overall bass/treble controls, talkback level, and a master level control.
