Google and DivX Offers Digital Video Options to Consumers

More than 50 million DivX Certified devices (January 06, 2006)

DivX Inc. and Google Inc. today announced the companies will work together to make Google Video accessible on consumer electronics devices, enabling consumers to bring their video content into the connected home and with them anywhere they go.

"DivX vision focuses on helping consumers experience the content that is meaningful to them in the most useful way, and that aligns very closely with Google," said Jordan Greenhall, co-founder and chief executive officer of DivX Inc. "Google and DivX can work together in the connected home to give consumers, content providers and consumer electronics manufacturers the freedom to move content across secure devices and platforms which are affordable, easy to use, and provide for greater access to richer, more meaningful digital media."

"Our goal with Google Video is to make the world's video content accessible to people, and working with DivX is a very important step toward extending that service beyond the PC to consumer electronics devices," said Susan Wojcicki, vice president of product management at Google Inc.  "We want to reach a point when consumers can easily access the content that is important to them from Google whenever they want, and enjoy that content on a variety of devices."

More than 50 million DivX Certified devices are estimated to be available from major manufacturers at retail outlets globally. For more information on DivX Inc, visit www.divx.com. To learn more about Google Video, go to http://video.google.com .
