Goodmans Guide to the Panasonic SDX900 Available

Robert M. Goodman pens Panasonic Cinema Camcorder resource (June 15, 2004)

Panasonic has announced the availability of Goodmans Guide to the Panasonic SDX900, written by noted filmmaker and journalist Robert M. Goodman. The Guide, published by AMGMedia Publishers (Mahwah, NJ), is based on real-world location work and provides the reader a thorough look at the options available to operators of the AJ-SDX900 DVCPRO Cinema camcorder, which since its debut last year has rapidly become one of the industrys most popular and versatile acquisition tools.

?This is the manual Ive always wanted, said author Goodman, ?a manual written for the person who would be using the camera instead of whats typical in the world of professional production, a manual for the engineer.

?Robert Goodman has written an invaluable reference for SDX900 operators, said Jan Crittenden, Product Line Business Manager, DVCPRO50/DVCPRO, Panasonic Broadcast. ?His Guide translates engineering terms into words that will help cinematographers clearly understand how powerful the cameras menus are.

The 240-page Guide comprises an overview of the cameras ?anatomy, camera menus organized by function, camera imaging, a section on ?creating looks for the SDX900, recording operations, audio controls, lenses, accessories, monitoring, power requirements and troubleshooting. The guide includes a Mini-CD that contains the manuals imagery as well as operating manuals for the camcorder and its remote control.

The Guide, with a suggested list price of $125, is available from Panasonic Authorized Flagship Dealers. To find the location of your nearest Flagship dealer, phone

The guide is free to current AJ-SDX900 owners by contacting their Panasonic sales representative or their Flagship dealer for details.

AJ-SDX900 combines in one camera the ?look and ?feel of electronic film, high-performance 525-line field production, and low-cost NTSC compatible news.
