Global Womens Empowerment Network Launches First Branded Safety Mobile Application

Global Womens Empowerment Network (GWEN), an interactive, global online community that connects those suffering from abuse, announced the launch of GWEN ALERT its first branded free mobile phone application. GWEN ALERT features an emergency button to use in time of distress. GWEN ALERT is FREE to download and is now available for smart phones, starting with the iPhone through iTunes App Store. GWEN ALERT is. An Android version will be available by the end of 2012.

In case of an emergency the GWEN ALERT allows users to discretely send a preset text message to up to five pre-programmed contacts (GWEN FIVE), alerting them that you are in danger. They will be notified of your location through a GPS technology with the push of a button, which allows them to notify officials for emergency support.

The GWEN Alert mobile app is currently launching during October for National Domestic Violence Awareness month to provide support and cause-related solutions that anyone can access with a mobile phone.

Millions of women and men are victims of domestic abuse each year and we created GWEN to empower and help them to transform their lives beyond abuse. The mobile app also provides inspiring daily tips, quotes and downloadable music among other features.
