Glassworks Invests in Baselight HD from FilmLight(March 14, 2011)
Glassworks Amsterdam was established in 2007 and now, four years on, the office has grown to a 16-man operation providing market-leading work to advertising agencies and production houses both locally, and internationally. Clients include Weiden & Kennedy, 180, TBWA Neboko, Y&R, DDB, Kessels Kramer and Selmore. They have created VFX for some of the most prestigious campaigns in advertising including Sony, Nokia, Heineken, Mini, Nike and Adidas. With a client base that traverses continents there are no limitations Glassworks' reach and the new Baselight is a great supplement to the company's services.
"We've had our sights set on a Baselight for a long time," explained Hector Macleod, CEO and owner of Glassworks. "And following an in-depth evaluation of colour grading systems at IBC, it was clear that Baselight HD offered us the biggest potential to grow our customer base and achieve the best possible return on our investment."
This new technology will synergise Glassworks' support services to work alongside directors from concept, storyboarding and scripting with attention to details and fluidity staying true to the Glassworks reputation as a dynamic and reliable post house.
MD Phil Linturn explained that "Baselight HD is the obvious choice for Glassworks Amsterdam. It is a highly versatile tool, allowing us to handle data efficiently, and allowing our clients to realise the full potential of their films in a suite that can handle HD 4:4:4 material. In a market such as ours, where the emphasis has well and truly shifted from film to digital media, we need a solution that not only delivers an excellent picture, it has to cope efficiently with the multiple formats and processes inherent in digital film production. Like Glassworks, FilmLight are a forward thinking company, right at the forefront of innovation, and we are looking forward to demonstrating the benefits of this system to our clients."
Linturn concluded "The addition of an in-house grading suite at Glassworks allows us to offer a more complete service to our existing clients, whilst opening us up to potential new customers and allowing us to service a broader range of projects. Like our London facility, we look forward to welcoming promos, short films as well as long form content. Indeed, we consider ourselves very fortunate to have already fielded enquiries from both existing and new clients."
Founded in 1996 by CEO Hector Macleod, Glassworks was launched as a modern post-production facility supplying high-end digital animation and visual effects expertise for the production of creative content, from award-winning commercials to film, promos and digital material. Based in Soho, London, our expertise is built around a core team of specialists in computer animation, digital effects, telecine and compositing. Our reputation is under-pinned by our passion for quality, innovation and personalised service.
In addition to our London facility, Glassworks also has offices in central Amsterdam servicing the local and international advertising market. This facility boasts an impressive array of equipment together with talent from the local market, the UK and many other European countries. Our high speed data link also enables both offices to benefit from each other's resources.
As our industry evolves and the canvas for high end content expands, Glassworks increasingly offers its core skill base to other mediums. For many years Glassworks has operated a special projects division, bridging the gap between our R&D department and our skilled artists.
In 2007 we were approached by UCLH to assist in designing and manufacturing a pioneering medical simulation tool, capable of training cardiac surgeons for theatre. After three and a half years of intensive research, development and testing, we released Heartworks, a unique product currently selling globally.
In 2010 Glassworks also established Wireworks with Andrew Gillon. This division is focusing on the ever-increasing digital demands now being asked of post production companies.
Our 60 staff use the best tools available to respond creatively to our client's needs. This currently includes 11 Flames, 2 Smokes, Telecine, 2 Avids, 2 Final Cut Pro suite, 40 3D stations and Nuke/Shake Farm. Our skill base and equipment are always evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of creative industries.
