Get edutained with Sainsburys magazines pick of the best learning holidays in the latest issue

  (August 10, 2011)

London (PRWEB UK) 10 August 2011

The latest issue of Sainsburys magazine, on sale in-store now, includes a feature on the growing trend in learning holidays, including Sainsburys Magazines pick of the top five most stimulating ideas for holidays guaranteed to broaden your horizons.

In the feature, two women describe their experiences of their very different learning holidays and how they were inspired. Jo Fernandez explains how learning to sail in Antigua was not only an opportunity to learn a new skill in a dream destination, but also a great way for her family to bond.

Tracey Davies opted for a soft learning experience. For her, learning Spanish was a much procrastinated ambition, which she finally felt motivated to do when she headed off in search of the more serene side of the clubbing capital of the world, Ibiza.

Holidays have progressed beyond the generic beach product or the simple guarantee of sun. People are more confident, and they are hungrier than ever for new experiences. They want to learn about the destination theyre visiting.

Todays travellers demand real experiences , they want to be edutained not educated. They want genuine experiences and locally inspired activities in an informal, relaxed, fun setting.

According to findings from Mintels Learning from my Holiday - UK - August 2009 report, fly and flop vacations are becoming somewhat old fashioned, and specialist learning holidays those that offer visitors an opportunity to learn creative, linguistic, sporting or other skills are growing in popularity.

In fact, the demand for learning holidays is on the rise, with 36% of adults agreeing that educating themselves about the place theyre visiting is an important part of their holiday experience, and 20% saying they enjoy learning new skills on holiday.

Helena Lang, editor of Sainsburys magazine, says, "Holidays are a breath of fresh air, a time to free yourself from the hustle and bustle and see things in a better light. While a learning holiday may sound at first like hard work, the reality is far different. It's a way to be curious, to refresh the spirit by engaging with locally inspired activities and the natural environment, to learn a new skill that can be taken home and used every day. Acquiring a new skill brings an extra dimension to going on holiday. It can be fun, too.

Sainsburys magazine, which is published by Seven, the award-winning customer engagement agency, is now the UKs most widely read, paid-for title. With just under 4 million readers every month (NRS), Sainsburys magazine is the only magazine to have won the covetable PPA Customer Magazine Award at the annual Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Awards three times.
