Geoff Unwin Named as Chairman of OmniBus Systems

Brings experience in guiding companies through periods of remarkable growth (September 06, 2005)

Geoff Unwin has been named chairman of OmniBus Systems' board of directors, the company announced today. Previously CEO of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, one of the largest management and IT consulting firms in the world, Unwin today acts in the capacity of non-voting board member while also holding the chairmanship of United Business Media plc and serving as a member of the advisory board of Palamon Capital Partners.

"I can't express how pleased we are to have someone with Geoff's credentials join the company as chairman," said OmniBus Systems President and CEO Mike Oldham. "His experience in guiding companies through periods of remarkable growth will no doubt be key to our continued success in forward-thinking business development. With increasing market penetration, continued innovation in automation architecture development, and the backing of a very strong executive team, OmniBus faces a time of great opportunity."

"I look forward to working with OmniBus Systems to implement its strategic vision and to maintain its position as a leader in the broadcast automation marketplace," said Unwin. "My association with the company to this point has been a real pleasure, and the possibilities that lie ahead for us look tremendously promising."

Unwin's involvement in leading successful IT-based businesses began before the field was established as such. He joined Hoskyns Group plc, a U.K.-based computer services company, in 1968 and was appointed managing director in 1984 and executive chairman in 1988. Just two years later, the company was acquired by high-profile French IT consultancy group Cap Gemini Sogeti. Under the leadership of Unwin, appointed chief operating operator in 1993, the company experienced significant growth, culminating in the year-2000 acquisition of the consulting activities of Ernst & Young. This led to the creation of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, the fifth-largest consulting and IT services company at the time, with Unwin as its CEO.

In addition to his ongoing work with Cap Gemini, United Business Media plc, and Palamon Capital Partners, Unwin serves as chairman of Halma plc, a leading safety and environmental technology group; The Cloud Networks, a Wi Fi network operator; and Liberata plc, a provider of business process outsourcing services.
