Gentner Changes Name to ClearOne Communications

New name reflects broader scope of products By Denise Harrison
Gentner Communications has been on a roll. Theyve had 17 consecutive profitable quarters, tripled net income since 1996 and have firmly planted their feet in all types of conferencing.

Now, they are changing their name to ClearOne Communications.

ClearOne's president and chief executive officer, Frances Flood, said in an announcement today: ?the ClearOne name more accurately represents all areas of the company's business. "ClearOne effectively communicates our focus on conferencing, is more marketable to our target audiences, and better reflects our new image and growth objectives."

The company will continue to trade under the symbol GTNR until March of 2002. ClearOne will then trade under the symbol CLRO. Some conferencing products will continue under the Gentner name.

Gentner was started by Russ Gentner in 1981. An early product, and still sold today, is the companys broadcast telephone interface, which queues up talk show callers and communicates the information to on-air talent and producers.

In 2000, the company purchased ClearOne Inc, an audio and video equipment maker. In 2001, Gentner purchased Ivron Systems, a Dublin, Ireland-based videoconferencing equipment maker.
