IGDA Casual Games SIG Co-Founder and recognized champion of casual games joins the industry leader in online premium play (March 09, 2006)

Game Trust, the leading infrastructure provider for premium online casual games, today announced that it has tapped Brian Robbins to be its newly created Director of Games. Robbins, co-founder of the International Game Developers Association’s (IGDA) Casual Games Special Interest Group (SIG), is also the current Chair for the IGDA’s Online Games SIG, where he has helped to establish casual games as an industry force. An accomplished game developer himself, he has been the lead developer on over 70 published titles, with contributions to more than 100 games.

At Game Trust, Robbins will be charged with: working with game developers to release high quality games both online and for download; extending Game Trust’s widely used and commonly accepted API; managing Game Trust’s integrated game catalog; and further building the company’s relationships with the development community.

“Today, the casual games industry is at a tipping point,” said Adeo Ressi, CEO of Game Trust. “Brian has long been a champion of casual games and understands the potential of casual games, perhaps, better than anyone else. As an award-winning developer, he will help ensure that Game Trust remains at the forefront of delivering the leading edge of content and technology.”

“I am excited to join the Game Trust team, and look forward to growing our reputation as the leader in the casual game industry,” said Robbins. “The casual game space is enjoying explosive growth now and Game Trust is driving that expansion through its high-quality game catalog and through an unmatched distribution network.”

Most recently Director of Online Gaming at Fuel Industries, Robbins was the lead programmer for SWITCH Wakeboarding, which launched last year on Game Trust.

Robbins' work has earned the following accolades: Finalist for FITC’s 2005 Canadian Developer of the Year; Applied Arts’ Best Interactive Game, Digital Marketing Awards’ Gold for Online Promotional Sites/Gaming (2004) and Finalist for Media, Entertainment and Gaming at MAX 2004. Robbins holds a BS in Computer Science and MBA, both from the University of Denver.
