Game Developers Conference Fast Approaching

The 2002 Game Developers Conference (March 19 - 23, in San Jose Calif.) can cost up to $1,295 for a "Classic Pass" but if you register by February 6, you can save $470 -- total cost $825. An annoucement this week stated the deadline as February 6 but the registration forms state February 5, so send your registration in by the 5th to be safe.

This year's conference has 300 lectures, tutorials, keynotes and roundtable discussions. Keynotes include speeches by: Peter Chan, conceptual illustrator for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone; Gabe Newell, co-founder, Valve Software (maker of Half-Life); John H. Conway, Princeton University professor of mathematics and creator of Game of Life; Ray Colcord, president, Society of Composers and Lyricists and composer of a number of film and television scores; Shuhei Yoshida, VP, product development at Sony Computer Entertainment America; Shin'ichi Okamoto, CTO, VP, Sony Computer Entertainment; Toshihiro Nagoshi, president of Amusement Vision (Super Monkey Ball, Viruta Striker 3, Daytona USA 2001); and Kazunori Yamauchi, president, Polyphony Digital (maker of Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo).
