GMPCS Offers Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro Data Service and Email(April 07, 2011)
Pompano Beach, FL (PRWEB) April 7, 2011
GMPCS Personal Communications, a leading global supplier of satellite communications, today announced the availability of Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro data service. It is available to new and existing customers through a handset firmware upgrade. The service enables users to send and receive files, emails and images with their IsatPhone Pro satellite phone and a laptop or desktop computer.
Our customers need to stay connected at all times to keep their businesses running, and expect the efficiency of email and data connections wherever they go, said Jon Klein, Vice President and General Manager of GMPCS. IsatPhone Pro data service lets customers access data. GMPCS SpeedMail software, with email speeds 15 times faster than the native IsatPhone Pro service, makes it faster and more affordable. GMPCS customers get the faster email and data access they need with the affordable and easy-to-use service they want.
GMPCS SpeedMail is available immediately at http://www.gmpcs-us.com/speedmail/ and includes:
- Up to 15% faster email access than standard IsatPhone data service
- Up to 85% less satellite airtime used than standard IsatPhone data service
- Automatic detection, setup and dialing of the Isatphone Pro
- Compatibility with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista and XP, Linux and Mac OS X
- Satellite transfers restart mid-file after signal interruptions, saving time and frustration
- Compatibility with any email program or the included Mozilla and iScribe email clients.
- Virus Scanning and Spam Filtering
- Full DES/PGP Encryption for optimum security
SpeedMail is powered by Global Marine Networks XGate software application. It is the benchmark for speed that Inmarsat used during the development and testing of data over the IsatPhone Pro to determine an effective rate of 20Kbps.
The design of the IsatPhone Pro makes it ideal for data services; it can be placed on its side with the antenna deployed for connection to the satellite while a micro USB connects it to a laptop. In addition to the data capability, the next firmware upgrade for IsatPhone Pro will feature a number of service enhancements. Please see the video here on how to upgrade the firmware on your IsatPhone Pro.
GMPCS SpeedMail is designed specifically for narrowband satellite data services with handheld satellite phones like the IsatPhone Pro, Iridium 9555 and Globalstar GSP-1700. It also increases data transfer speeds for broadband satellite services such as Inmarsat FleetBroadband, BGAN, Iridium OpenPort and VSAT services, or any IP-based data service.
