G-Technology debuts G-RAID Pro with 4TB capacities

G-Technology announced at NAB 2008 its new G-RAID Pro drive that features a triple interface (FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB), RAID 0 and RAID 5 support, and capacities of up to 4TB. G-RAID Pro features four hot swappable 7200 RPM , 3GB/s disk drive modules, and will ship in June starting at $999.

The company also updated the G-RAID 3 drive with a quad interface, supporting 3GB/s eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB 2.0. It features the latest Oxford 936 chipset in a RAID 0 setup. The G-RAID 3 also features a soft on/off power switch, and a smart fan to keep the drive quiet.

According to the company, in this configuration, the G-RAID 3 will support simultaneous playback of multiple layers of video in Final Cut Pro, Premiere, and Media Composer, XPress Pro. It is expected to ship in May and will come in 1TB, 1.5TB, and 2TB configurations with prices starting at $499.


The smallest drive in the G-RAID line, the G-RAID mini 2, has been outfitted with RAID 0 and RAID 1, a quad high speed interface, and a more than 100MB/second transfer rate, according to the company. The drive is bus powered via FireWire or eSATA, and comes in 500GB, 640GB, and 1TB capacities. With shippoing scheduled for June, the G-RAID mini2 is priced starting at $599.
