Furman Sound Launches AC-215 Compact Power ConditionerLow-profile AC-215 leverages SMP+ circuit to maximize performance and protection (June 08, 2005)
Furman Sound, the most widely recognized and trusted name in AC power conditioning, today announced the release of the company's new compact power conditioner, the AC-215. Built around Furman's state-of-the-art, proprietary SMP+ technology, the AC-215 features a low profile ideal for mounting onto the back of a plasma or LCD screen or next to a projector and delivers the purest power and most comprehensive surge and spike protection available within the market.
"Professionals and enthusiasts who use sophisticated audio, video, and broadcast equipment that can be tremendously expensive and fragile have little choice but to tap into a power grid that is outdated and overworked," said James Bonfiglio, president and CEO of Furman Sound. "Without effective power conditioning, their gear often suffers from distorted signal quality, and those who are less fortunate may find themselves shopping for replacements. Furman's new AC-215 is an excellent solution for the ultimate protection of sensitive equipment and for delivering clean power to maximize performance."
At the heart of the AC-215 is Furman's SMP+ (Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus) circuit, the company's latest technological advancement, which includes LiFT, SMP, and EVS. Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) delivers linearly filtered AC power, dramatically reducing the noise that masks and distorts critical signal information. LiFT suppresses noise consistently across the entire dynamic range, a vast improvement over existing conditioners that utilize typical non-linear AC filters, which reduce noise unevenly and can even add noise due to excessive resonant peaking.
Electrical surges and spikes travel along today's power grids on a daily basis, and, if unchecked, can devastate electronics. Furman's Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) not only clamps and dissipates damaging transient voltages at the highest degree available, but it also does so without sacrificing itself so it can continue to do its job, again and again, without repair or replacement. The Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) feature protects equipment by automatically powering down in the event of a sustained over-voltage, which is statistically the most common cause of equipment damage. Furthermore, unlike older technologies, Furman's SMP+ circuit never directs potentially harmful voltage to the circuit ground.
The small, easy-to-install AC-215 includes two rear-panel outlets and mounting hardware. Ideally suited for attaching to the rear of a plasma or LCD screen or next to a projector, it fits into any application where discreetly located, remote power purification and protection are needed. A three-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship is included.
